Dallas Center - Billy Duane Brown, 82, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018, at Church of the Brethren in Dallas Center (1207 Ash St.), where the family will receive friends from 9 - 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Brethren Cemetery in Dallas Center.

Billy was born April 27, 1935, to John and Addie (Shiery) Brown, in Dallas Center. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. Billy married Vivian Joan Wheeler in 1956 and they made their home in Dallas Center where they raised their two children. Billy married Mary Patricia Callahan Young on November 25, 2004. He was a self-employed carpenter for over 50 years. Billy was a member of Dallas Center American Legion Post #49, Dallas Center Fire Department member for 38 years (serving 18 years as Fire Chief), former Dallas Center City Council member and proud member of the Dallas Center Coffee Club.

Billy is survived by his wife, Pat, daughter, Lori (Mick) Wenger of Adel, five sons, Scott Brown of Waukee, Jerry Young and Terry (Brenna) Young, both of Des Moines, Curtis (Suzanne) Young of Granger, and Kyle (Jamie) Young of Kauai, HI; and six grandchildren, Seth, Nathan, Aimee (Chris), Madison, Casey and Benjamin; and his great-granddaughter, Viviana. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan, and his siblings, W. Edward Brown and Ruth Vr Meer.
