Ankeny - Memorial services for Charles and Roma Again, who both passed away just two months apart in 2018, will take place at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 18, 2019, at Ankeny Funeral Home (1510 W. First Street Ankeny, IA 50023). Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa.

Roma was born June 16, 1928, in Union County, Iowa, the daughter of Beryl and Mildred (Porter) Shawler. Roma was united in marriage to Charles Thurman Agan on March 12, 1946, in Des Moines, IA. They settled in the area and welcomed five children. Roma made her hobby her career and along with Charles, owned Agan's Antiques; they would sell at various shows and had booths at different dealers in the area. She was also a seamstress and amazing cook, which led to her having a catering business.

Charles was born November 12, 1924, in Centerville, IA, to Charles William and Elieta (Anderson) Agan. He enlisted in the United States Navy on November 23, 1942, and was a seaman 2nd Class serving during WWII. Charles was honorably discharged on January 23, 1946. Charles worked as a machinist at John Deere for 30 years. Charles was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the VFW Post 9662. He enjoyed golfing, card games and playing pool in his free time.

Left to cherish their memory are Charles and Roma's children: Larry (Nancy) Agan, Tom (Robin) Agan, Robin (Mike) Luke, Michelle Brown (Brian Berard) and Christina Ortiz (Matthew Kim); 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Charles' siblings: Arlene Wing, Floyd Agan, Norman Agan, Florence Simmons and Phyllis Briggs; and Roma's sisters: Wilma Akins, Doris Render and Sharon (Billy) Dunbar. They are preceded in death by their parents.
