Des Moines - Clarence H. Lippert, 95, passed away June 9, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Home in Indianola. Services will be held at Iles Grandview Park Chapel on Monday, June 18, 2018. Visitation will begin at 10am followed by a memorial service at 11am. Interment with military honors will be at 12:30pm at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.

Clarence H. Lippert, son of Albert and Cecelia (Weber) Lippert was born on February 6, 1923 in Waterloo, Iowa. Following graduation, he was drafted into the US Army in 1943. Serving as a World War II soldier, he received A Bronze Star, the Purple Heart Medal and in 2013, received the Legion d'Honneur medal for his valiant service in France. He was discharged in 1945 and returned to the United States on the Queen Mary.

Clarence received his teaching degree in 1950 from the Iowa State Teacher's College (Now University of Northern Iowa). While teaching in Illinois he met Shirley Watson and they were married in 1956. They moved to Des Moines in 1967 where they raised four children, Daniel, Suzanne, Patrick and Michelle. He was a business and math teacher for Des Moines Public Schools for 18 years until he retired in 1985.

Clarence was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church and St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as Grand Knight in 1970. He enjoyed home improvement projects and spending time with his family.

Clarence is survived by his four children, Dan (Annette) Lippert of Johnston, Sue Lippert of Des Moines, Pat Lippert of Des Moines and Michelle Lippert (Ozzy Thorland) of Cumming; grandson, Joshua Lippert and granddaughter, Alyssa Thorland; siblings, Richard "Dick" Lippert of Rockford, IL and Dorothy Amundson of Waterloo; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley and siblings, Clarendon "Butch" and William "Bill" Lippert.
