Dean Louis Lehman

Ames - Dean Louis Lehman died in Ames, Iowa, on January 7th, 2021. He was born on August 9, 1924, to Louis and Pauline Klingbeil Lehman.

After graduating from Alleman High School he attended Mission House College in Sheboygan, WI. He served in the Army from 1945-1946. He married Frieda Hemmingson on Thanksgiving Day, 1946. Dean and Frieda had three children, Gayle Katherine, Joanne (Bob Langabee) and Kurt (Lynda).

Dean and Frieda farmed south of Huxley for more than 40 years. In 1993 they moved to Ames. Dean enjoyed coffee club, bowling, and playing cards. He was an avid supporter of all things ISU. It provided Dean great pleasure to deliver homegrown sweet corn to friends and family.

Dean is survived by his wife and children, 6 grandchildren (Lee Lehman-Becker; Suki Lucier; Vince Langabee; Troy Langabee; Ashlea Lem and Michelle Parlett) and 11 great-grandchildren; by his brother, Kenneth, and his sister, Arlene (Kyle Bigham), and by 7 nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Margaret; nephew, David Long, sister-in-law, Janet Lehman, brother-in-law, Bob Long and great-granddaughter Elizabeth Lem. Family was always of primary importance to Dean, and his greatest joy was in the success and happiness of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

There will be no funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to Salem United Church of Christ, 320 NE 141 Avenue, Alleman, 50007.

Sorry to read of Dean's passing. Great picture and indicative of the laugh so quickly and easily shared by Dean often during visits. He so loved sharing the sweet corn with many and was much appreciated. Thinking of all the family and wishing you peace.
