Urbandale, Iowa - Eldon Lee Strange, son of Walter Eldon & Ocie Laveta (Schlapia) Strange, was born at home near Clearfield, Ringgold County, Iowa on February 27, 1943. Eldon began his education in a one room schoolhouse. In 1949, the family moved to the farm south of Diagonal and Eldon attended Diagonal school. He graduated from Diagonal High School with the class of 1961. After graduation, Eldon worked for a short time at the R.E.C. He served in the National Guard as a MP. Eldon loved spending time with his family, relatives, and friends. He loved to visit with people throughout his life, always telling stores of his high school days and the pranks that he and his friends did. Eldon loved to travel, and Michigan & Maui were his favorite places. Eldon & Kay traveled with the Senior Citizens Activity Center in Mount Ayr. They took 14 trips with the group and became friends with so many people. Marion & Mary Jo Hansell and Eldon & Kay loved to go on spontaneous trips: no real plans, just winging it. Eldon was intrigued with computers, cell phones & electrical gadgets. He loved the Iowa State Cyclones and enjoyed bowl trips with his family.
