Hannah Ray "Sissy" Geneser Obituary
Hannah Ray Geneser "sissy", died unexpectedly at age four on Monday, March 21, 2011, at Blank Children's Hospital in Des Moines.
This beautiful, ray of light came into this world on September 26, 2006 in Des Moines, Iowa to the parents of Shanda L. Boone and Jamie J. Geneser. A strong, sharp, free spirit, she is remembered for her laughter and her hugs, giving a little piece of sunshine to absolutely everyone she touched. A favorite story that makes them laugh to this day, is when they had a bag of fudge on the kitchen counter and dada, Jamie, hearing it rustle, went to investigate. Caught in the act, their little Hannah looked up with chocolate on her face and proclaimed, "Oh, I thought these were bananas!" She had such a way with people. If her mischief brought on a touch of anger, she would calmly say with a twinkle in her eye, "Ok, ok, now settle down."
One of their favorite rituals was every night before bed she would say to her mommy and dada, "will you 'yay' with me? Just for a minute. Five minutes!" Holding her mommy, she would stroke her cheek and ask, "Do you want me to scratch your back?" Together they would look out her window to the moon and mommy would ask, "do you know how much I love you?" and Hannah would reply, "to the moon and back". But before going to sleep, she would sneak out of bed for just one more kiss. Every night. Every night. Upon waking, she would ask, "Is this a school day or a stay home day?" She loved coming home. She wrestled with her dada, played crocodile with mommy and Peter Pan with grandfather, Papa. She always had to be Peter Pan and he would be Captain Hook. She excelled in gymnastics on the pommel horse, pretended to be Spiderman and danced in her princess dress daily with her favorite pink sparkly tennis shoes. Hannah was sissy Harper's protector and biggest competitor.
In addition to her loving parents, Jamie J. Geneser and Shanda L. Boone of Des Moines; Hannah is survived and dearly remembered by her "Sissy", Harper Geneser of Des Moines; paternal grandparents, Daniel and Gretta Geneser of West Des Moines; maternal grandparents, Lyle and Sandy Boone of Des Moines; paternal great-grandmother, Jackye Ray of Boone; paternal great-grandfather, John Geneser of Woodward; and a host of many aunts, uncles and cousins, whom she loved so much.
