JEAN BRANDENBURG

Ankeny

Jean Brandenburg, 73, passed away June 25, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Jean was born in San Francisco, CA, and was later married to Ronald Brandenburg, December 11, 1970, in Sacramento, CA.

They moved to Iowa in 1972. Jean started as a Den leader and later became one of the first female district commissioners in the state of California, for the Boy Scouts of America. For the Ankeny chapter of the American Business Women's Assoc., she was the past treasurer. She was also twice voted, in 1999 and 2000, Woman of the Year for the same chapter.

In her spare time, she enjoyed painting, crochet, and knitting.

Jean is survived by her husband Ronald of Ankeny, her children; Richard West (Nancy) of Woodland, CA, David Hicks, Los Angeles, CA, Michael Brandenburg (Crystle) of Des Moines, Carol Hildebrand, of Dubuque, IA, Patricia Nelson of Vacaville, CA, and Jennifer Farrar (Kris) of Iowa City, IA, a sister; Grace Niswender, her brothers; Myron MacNeil, Rodrick MacNeil, and Lyle Braae, eleven grandchildren, and two great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her son Victor.

Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m., at All Saints Catholic Church, 650 N.E. 52nd Avenue, in Des Moines, Monday June 29, 2009.

A visitation will be held beginning at 12:30 p.m., June 29, just prior to the service.
