Joseph Tonelli

Des Moines - Joseph Brian Tonelli, 51, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019. Joe was born March 17, 1967 to Charles and Anna Tonelli. He was part of the Waukee High School graduating class of 1985, and spent the majority of his life in Waukee. After high school, Joe utilized his many unique skills as a "jack of all trades." Joe loved "wrenchin'", working on cars, motorcycles, lawnmowers; anything with an engine, and met a lot of people who needed his help to fix what they could not. In 1991, Joe became a father for the first time, and for a second time in 1993. In 2004, Joe was yet again blessed with another child, his third daughter. His daughters were his everything. He spent his life teaching them how to fish, mushroom hunt, and getting them excited for any opportunity to get their hands dirty. Joe's love and passion for the outdoors shines through to his children, even today. Joe adored his three girls and always let them know how proud he was of them and their achievements. He was a bragger, especially when it came to his kids.

Left to honor and remember Joe, his daughters; Samantha, Charlotte, and Sierra. His significant other, Heidi Varner, his siblings; Angelo (Dana) Tonelli, Claudette (Fred) Borger, Carmella (Dave) Roakes, Annabelle (Chuck) Weber, Susie Eggert, Susan (Rodney) Snowgren, David (Jody) Punelli, Cheryl Tonelli, Robert Tonelli, and Francis Tonelli; many cousins, aunts/uncles, nieces/nephews and beloved friends. Joe is proceeded in death by his parents, Charles and Anna Tonelli, his brothers; Donald, Eldee, George, and Ronald Tonelli, and his sisters; Colleen Williams and Sena Clay.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019, from 6:00-7:00PM at Merle Hay Funeral Home; 4400 Merle Hay Road, DSM, Iowa. There will be a celebration of life beginning at 7PM.
