Martha Ruth Snider Robinson

1925 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
Martha Ruth Snider Robinson

Dallas Center - Martha Ruth Snider Robinson, 93, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at HCI Kavanagh House in Des Moines.

Martha was born to Maurice and Emma (Warren) Snider on February 18, 1925. Upon graduating from high school, she moved to Des Moines, attended Drake University and worked at Central Life, where she met a handsome Merchant Marine Radio Officer named William "Bill" Robinson. He had traveled all over the world during his service but came home near the end of the war and became a Navy Lieutenant. Martha and Bill were married on August 4, 1945. They moved to Ames and Bill received his degree in Electrical Engineering with a great deal of Martha's assistance. After Bill's graduation, they moved briefly to Newton then to Minneapolis, Minnesota where Bill took a position with Honeywell. Their daughter, Julie Robinson Muckler, was born in 1951. After nine happy years Bill was promoted and the family moved to Mt. Prospect, Illinois.

Martha was a prolific reader, active in politics and loved city life. Martha and Bill loved to travel to Grand Marais, Minnesota and they went to Kansas City frequently and stayed at what was then the Alameda Plaza. After Julie graduated from high school in 1969, they moved to Ames, Iowa where Julie was attending Iowa State and Bill had taken a new corporate position. Julie married Richard Muckler in 1974.

Martha made many friends, was active in politics and TTT. However, her favorite job started in 1989, when she became the grandmother of Kyle Richard Muckler. In 1996, Bill and Martha moved to Cincinnati, where Julie, Dick and Kyle were living. They had many wonderful family adventures. Upon Bill's death, Martha moved back to Dallas Center, Iowa to be near her sister, Harriett Virginia Kreager. After some years, Julie took a new position and Julie, Dick and Kyle moved back to Des Moines. They saw Martha frequently and enjoyed many family luncheons and parties.

Martha is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Julie; and her grandson, Kyle and his wife Jessie Scott. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Robinson; her infant sister, Betty, her parents; her sister and brother-in-law, Harriet and Ross Kreager, and on March 9, 2018, her son-in-law, Richard Muckler.

A private interment will be held at Rosehill Cemetery in Osceola and a celebration of life will be held at a future date.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Spurgeon Manor, 1204 Linden, Dallas Center, IA 50063. Online condolences will be welcomed at IlesCares.com.
