Robert J. Stoneking

Ormond Beach, FL - Robert J. Stoneking, 74, passed away September 3, 2018 at his home in Ormond Beach, Fl. He was born in Story City, IA on May 10, 1944. He grew up in Des Moines, IA and graduated from North High Highschool in Des Moines, IA. He served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1969 and was stationed overseas in Germany and Viet Nam. He married his wife, Mary Ann, February 12, 1977. Bob was a police officer in Iowa prior to purchasing a resort, Pikedale Lodge Leech Lake, MN. in 1987. While growing up Leech Lake had been a family vacation and fishing destination for Bob with his parents and brothers. Bob enjoyed sharing fishing and boating with family and friends his entire life. Upon retirement, Bob and Mary Ann moved to Sioux Falls, SD. Bob was member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. He continued to share his enjoyment of fishing with family, friends, and the Men's Group of Our Redeemer on their annual fishing trip. Bob and Mary Ann wintered in Ormond Beach, FL for several years before moving there permanently. Bob had been President of the Fountain Square Condo Association for many years.

Bob is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; son, Robert (Shana), Anchorage, Alaska; daughter, Kelli, Ormond Beach, FL; granddaughter, Emily Capello, San Antonio, TX; and grandson, Nathan Capello, San Antonio, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, G.E. and Ruth Stoneking; daughter, Michelle Capello; brothers, Richard Stoneking and Roger Stoneking; nephew, David Stoneking; brother-in-law Monte Woodford; sister-in-law Kathy Hersom; and his wife's parents, Franklin and Veronica Hersom.

A funeral service will be at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls, SD Friday, September 21st at 10:00 AM with visitation at 9:00 AM. Interment will be at Highland Memory Gardens, Des Moines, IA on Saturday, September 22nd at 11 AM.

So very sorry to hear of the passing of Bob. He was always such a comic when he and Don and Ron would come to the Galley in Webster SD. He will certainly be missed. Rich and I send our condolences to his family. RIP Bob.
