Mesa, AZ - Robert N. Campbell, 77, passed away at Banner Baywood Hospital in Mesa, AZ on Tuesday, June 5, 2018. Funeral services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Des Moines on Friday, June 15 at 11:00 AM. A visitation is scheduled on Thursday, June 14, 2018 from 5-7 PM at the church. A private burial with military honors will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter.

Robert Campbell, son of William F. and Margaret (Norby) Campbell was born on October 2, 1940 in Hamlin, IA. He graduated from Audubon High School in 1959. He served in the US Army from 1963-65. Bob retired from Super Valu Warehouse and barbered many years in Des Moines and Mesa, AZ. Bob coached many softball teams at Pink Park, women's slow pitch teams, and then was known as "The Legend" after pitching many winning seasons in several divisions in the Mesa City Slow Pitch Softball League. He was a loyal Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs fan, he never met a stranger, and his greatest accomplishment was his love of his family.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard Campbell. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Prudy (Wahlert) Campbell, Mesa, AZ, daughters, P.J. Heinz (Mark) Ackley, IA, K.C. Rottinghaus WDM, IA, grandchildren Kenzie Huyser (Alex) Sully, IA, Tyler Rottinghaus Hazel Green, WI, Maddie Heinz Ackley, IA, Meghan Heinz Ackley, IA, great-granddaughter, Hailey Huyser Sully, IA, Aunts Ruth Edwards and Harriet Campbell, Audubon, IA and his many Campbell and Norby cousins. Bob will be remembered as a wonderful uncle to his adored nephews and nieces and a great friend to many.
