Marilyn Joyce McKay, 88 went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 3, 2014. She was born October 2, 1925 to William and Elizabeth Steen in Bloom Township, MN. Marilyn married William E. McKay on June 5, 1943 in Carbondale, IL while William was serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. After retiring from her Civil Service Career, she traveled extensively and made many friends during her adventures. She was actively involved in her community and brought a ray of sunshine and a warm smile to all she met. She enjoyed her life immensely and lived it to the fullest. Marilyn is predeceased by her husband William E. McKay, her sisters Myrtle E. Benson and Aletha J. Morse and her son Charles K. McKay. She is survived by her sons David L. McKay (Deborah) and Paul B. McKay (Sydney), daughter in law Nancy J. McKay, Grandchildren David D. McKay (Vicki), Robb W. McKay (Jan), Ellienne E. McKay, Christie Lauderdale, Michael Barie and Brandon Barie, Great Grandchildren Anna, Shannon and Scotlyn McKay, Carissa, Jacob and Sara McKay, Sarah and Coleman Lauderdale. Arrangements are under the care of Hardage-Giddens Beaches Chapel (904)249-2374 located 1701 Beach Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32250. A visitation will be held Tuesday, July 8 from 6-8pm at the funeral home. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 19 at 11 am McLareus Rest Haven, 801 19th St. West, Des Moines, IA with interment to follow. If so desired, please donate to your in lieu of flowers.
