James, 86, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waukee. A Funeral Mass will be held at the church on Wednesday, July 30 at 10 a.m.

James was a veteran, serving his country in the US Army. He was employed as a general contractor who worked primarily remodeling downtown Des Moines buildings. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, traveling, and was a member of the Hillcrest Country Club in Adel. He was also a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.

James will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. His humor, generosity and kindness will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his four children, Elizabeth Young, Margaret Ferrari, Joseph Finken and Sarah Finken; five grandchildren, Renee Short, Kelsey Finken, Adison Finken, Julieann Finken and Jacee Finken; four great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson and by one sister, Theresa Brazie. James was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, a grandson, Nicholas Ferrari, eight sisters and one brother.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Boniface Catholic Church or to Our Lady of the Americas Catholic Church. Messages of condolence may be left for the family at www.BrooksFuneralCare.com.
