Ron has left us after 80 years of living a full and satisfying life filled with many accomplishments. After serving 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, Ron retired and returned to Iowa with his family, where he began a second career as an Administrative Manager of a law firm for 20 years.
Ron also became very active in the Men's Garden Club of Des Moines and the TGOA/MGCA of America, becoming a life member of both organizations, serving, at times, as the President and Treasurer. Ron also became involved in numerous other organizations: Downtown Des Moines Kiwanis Club, Des Moines Salvation Army Advisory Board, Des Moines Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center Advisory Council, Military Officer Association of America, Iowa chapter, Military Officer Association of America, and Des Moines Kiwanis Miracle League. Ron touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
Ron is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ila Mae; sons, R. Scott (Lori), Bob (Lori), Rodney S., Rusty (Diana), Dick (Carrie); 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Hamilton's on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Des Moines Kiwanis Miracle League or the Des Moines Salvation Army.
