Alverda Rhoads Obituary
Visitation will be held at Collins United Methodist Church in Collins, IA, on Tuesday, February 1, from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 2, at 2 p.m. also at the Collins United Methodist Church.
Alverda graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1948. She married Joseph Rhoads on January 6, 1950, in Brooklyn, IA. They lived in Grinnell, IA, until moving to Collins in 1956.
Alverda was a member of the Collins American Legion Auxiliary and retired from R .H. Donnelly in 1988. She and Joe wintered several years in Texas and Arizona where they met many new friends.
Alverda is survived by her husband, Joe, of Collins; three daughters, Mrs. Vicki (Terry) Legvold of Charlotte, NC, Mrs. Merily (Mark) Atwood of Collins, IA, Mrs. Kelly (Robert) Miller of LaVista, NE; one son, Mr. Gregory (Debora) Rhoads of Colo, IA; one sister, Shirley (Gene) Bartachek of Brooklyn, IA; as well as eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Alverda was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Wayne and Gerald Goodrich; and two grandchildren.
Fredregill Funeral Home in Collins, IA, is in charge of the arrangements.

It was a blessing and a joy to know Alverda. Such a special lady. Joe, it was a very special happening in our lives when you and Alverda visited us in Guttenberg.
