Mark Wingfield Obituary

Mark Wingfield

Des Moines

Mark Raymond Wingfield, 54, passed away Monday, February 9, 2015 at his home in Des Moines under the care of Steven and Sally after losing a short and courageous battle with cancer. He was born to Alan and Sandra Wingfield in Des Moines on December 6, 1960.

Mark graduated from Woodward Academy and worked for Link Associates for many years. He had a love for balloons, McDonald's, dinosaurs, toy cars and trucks, and anything blue. When he was younger, he enjoyed riding his bike, widdling, singing, dancing, and listening to music. Mark was truly a big kid at heart.

Mark is survived by his siblings, Michael (Lisa) Wingfield, Steven (Sally) Wingfield, Darcy (Cory) Freeborn, Sonya Wingfield, and Sean (Michelle) Thompson; step-siblings, Sheryl, Teresa, and Doug McDivitt; and many beloved family and friends whom he loved so much.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and loving step-father, Thomas McDivitt.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, February 16, 2015 at Evangelical Covenant Church, 2625 Hubbell Ave., with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the church.

In the spirit of Mark, rather than sending flowers, please send balloons.

I am touched to see the comments. I think of Mark a lot too. I can still hear the loud, piercing laugh of Mark's in my head that made everyone stop and take notice. Such a big innocent kid at heart. He is truly missed and loved by so many. Yes Mark. I love you. Forever and always. Your little Sister -Sonya-

It's been almost a year and I think of you often. I miss your laugh, your curiosities, your singing and most importantly you. You taught me very important aspects of life and I know you are now free of your old human body and mind. I look forward to the day when I will see you again. In the meantime say hello to Mom and Dad and our other loved ones. I Love you and yes all of the women love you too, especially the blondes!

Mark always made me smile and laugh growing up. I remember his love for balloons and pigeons. He will always be one of my favorite cousins! I'm sorry I haven't seen him since Aunt Sandy's funeral. He will always be in my heart. He is with his loving mom now! GODSPEED MARKIE!
