Donald McElwee, 80, passed away August 4, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center.

Donald was born May 21, 1936 in Pleasantville, Iowa to John and Helen McElwee. He worked as a truck driver for 36 years before retiring in 1995. Donald was a member of the Teamsters Union, Masonic Lodge, Shriners and Scottish Rite. He enjoyed NASCAR.

Donald is survived by his wife, Darlene; children, Rodney (Melanie) McElwee, Rhonda (Ray) Ceretti and Robin Simbro; sister, Carolyn Watts; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Merrill.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, August 8, 2016 at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 9th at the funeral home followed by burial at Scotch Ridge Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
