Phyllis Tillman peacefully passed from this life on Friday, September 8, 2017 at Mercy Hospice, Johnston. Visitation with light refreshments will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 12 and funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 13 all at Iles Grandview Park Chapel. Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Phyllis was born on October 15, 1930 to the late Russ and Merle (Farrell) Thomas. A lifelong resident of Des Moines, she graduated from East High School as a proud '49er. She married the love of her life, Charles Tillman on June 3, 1950, and they were blessed to celebrate 60 years of marriage. Phyllis worked as a personal banker at Wells Fargo and was a member of Capitol Hill Christian Church.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck; son, Brian; and brothers, Vernon and Richard Thomas. Her brother, Gerald, of San Diego, CA survives.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Vickie and husband, Phil Cronin, of Johnston; grandchildren, Meredith (Brian) Agan of Ankeny and Scott (Sarah) Cronin of Des Moines; great grandchildren, Parker and Ruthie; her son, Tom, his wife, Karen and their family, Kendra Israel, her son, Peyton, Nick and Amanda Barrett; and beloved canine companion, Arkie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Disabled American Veterans, Mercy Hospice or ARL.
