TROFF FREDRIC "FRITZ" SAUNDERS Age 86 of Auburn Hills. September 16, 2015. Loving husband of Mary (Tyndall) Troff. Married one week short of 65 years. Beloved father of Nancy (Michael Harrell) Troff, Tamsin (Gary DeMink) Troff, Fredric William "Bill" Troff, Sarah (Jamie Uribe) Troff, and the late M. Robin Troff Cornell; cherished grandfather of Angelina Troff (Todd Kobriger), Garrett (Erin) Troff, Erin (Michael) DuMez, John Bonzelaar, Fredric Andres, and Catherine Uribe; amused great-grandfather of Charlie, Isla and Grace Dumez, and Elizabeth and Annabel Kobriger. Born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on July 25, 1929, to Garrett J. and Marjorie Saunders Troff, Fritz attended State High, Kalamazoo College, and graduated from Western Michigan University with two Bachelor Degrees and a Masters Degree in Speech Pathology. The friendships made during Fritz' years as a member of the 174th M.P. Battalion during the Korean War were deeply gratifying and he remained friends with many of his fellow M.P.'s. His career took him to St. Clair Shores, Michigan where he worked for the South Lake School District. There he proudly worked as a Speech Pathologist. He worked with the Title 1 Program in the area of Speech Therapy and served for a period of time as president of the teachers' union, before culminating his career as the Director of Special Education. Fritz was an avid book reader and collector, a poet and a wise and knowledgeable soul. He remained in deeply loyal friendships with those from his kindergarten years to the present. Cancer took his body but not his hilarious dry wit. Visitation will be from 4 – 6 p.m. on Sunday, September 20, 2015 and Funeral Service with Military Honors on Monday, September 21, 2015 at 11 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. at Modetz Funeral Home, 100 E.
