Billie Louise Mitcham Polson, 78, of Pantego passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at an Arlington care center. Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday at Pitkin First Baptist Church. The Rev. Jeremy McRory will officiate. Interment will follow in Blue Branch Cemetery under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale, La. Billie was a graduate of Polytechnic High School in Fort Worth. She was married for 50 years to Ralph Polson Jr. until his death in 2005. They resided in Southlake until moving to the Polson family farm in Pitkin, La., in 1996. Following her husband's death Billie moved back to Texas in 2010 to be closer to her grandchildren and great-grandson. She became a member of the Mayfield Road Baptist Church, actively participating in senior activities at church and in the community. She thoroughly enjoyed local field trips, being a member of the Red Hat organization, and traveling out of state to visit friends and relatives. Ms. Polson was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph W. Polson Jr.; son, John Wesley Polson; daughter, DeAnne Dickinson; and her parents, Edna and Johnnie Mitcham. Survivors: Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include a son, Paul Mitcham and his wife, Paula, of Arlington; three grandsons, Christopher Dickinson of Lewisville, Conway Dickinson of Lewisville, and Army Spec. Chase Polson and his wife, Jolie, of Killeen; granddaughter, Ashton Polson of Bryan; great-grandson, Bryson Dickinson; son-in-law, Eric Dickinson of Lewisville; daughter-in-law, Sharon Knight of Giddings; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and related family members.
