Eugene Dawson Obituary

Eugene "Gene" Dawson, 91, passed away Monday, May 19, 2014, in Fort Worth. Funeral: 2 p.m. Sunday at Wiley Funeral Home. Interment: Acton Cemetery in Acton. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Gene was born in Oklahoma on Feb. 21, 1923, to the late Elmer D. Dawson and Leona May-Dawson. He was a loving son, brother husband, father and grandfather. Gene attended TCU, served in the U.S. Navy as a signalman second class during World War II, and retired from Lockheed Martin. He was married to the girl next door, Imogene Reynolds-Dawson, for 68 years. To guarantee his family would visit often, he built their home on Granbury Lake. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ray L. Dawson; sister, Leona Bernice McLellan; and great-grandson, David H. Dawson. Survivors: Wife, Imogene; sons, Errol and Roy Dawson; daughter, Merlene Dawson; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Bunn Butler, Sr.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren with one on the way; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
