James Forrest "Jimmy" Park Obituary
Jimmy Park, 83, passed peacefully from this life to the next in his sleep Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. Memorial service: 2 p.m. Friday at Tate Springs Baptist Church, Arlington. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wade Family Funeral Home, Arlington. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch in Amarillo, www.calfarley.org, a place that held a special spot in Jimmy's heart. Jimmy was born in Dallas and raised in the Meadowbrook area of Fort Worth. He lived for over 60 years on his dairy farm with his beloved, faithful wife, Bette, in Arlington. Jimmy started raising chickens as a small boy and went on to love and work with animals his entire life. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged to come home and save his dairy farm. He was as big and strong and as stubborn as the bulls he wrangled. Jimmy was a man rooted in faith and family. He had a brilliant engineering mind and a keen insight into the truth of situations. He had a second career of architectural engineering as he installed hundreds of church steeples all over the U.S. Jimmy left a legacy of rugged determination, perseverance and solution-focused ideals for those who knew, loved and were affected by him. He was an original. He was robust and adventurous and insatiably inquisitive. His outrageous humor and ubiquitous toothpicks will be greatly missed. Survivors: James "Jimmy" Park is survived by his very patient, beloved wife of 62 years, Bette Pace Park; daughters, Carol Meade, Laura Orr, Tammy Moore and husband, Roger, Jenni Cooke and husband, Richard, and Kayce Park; grandchildren, Katrina Barnhill and husband, Greg, Claire Pace Kinder and husband, Brandon, Daniel Orr, Laura Meade, Sara Anderson and husband, Corey, and Ian James Meade; great-grandchildren, Kaylynn and Jackson Barnhill; brothers, David Park and Robert "Bob" Park and his beloved wife, Janie; and a large number of nieces and nephews who loved "Uncle Big Jimmy" and greatly enriched his life.
