Jean Marie Mallick Obituary
Jean Marie Mallick died peacefully early Thursday morning, Jan. 7, 2016. Service: Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. Monday, St. Andrew Catholic Church, her son, the Rev. Marcus Mallick, celebrant. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Vigil: 7 p.m. Sunday, St. Andrew Catholic Church. Memorials: Jean was a strong supporter of Catholic Charities, the Discalced Carmelite Nuns, Catholics Respect Life, TOBET, and St. Jude Research Hospital should you like to give a gift in her memory. Jean Marie Harris was born June 30, 1944, in Kansas City, Mo., to Albert Fred Harris Sr. and Emmeline Mary Malouff Harris, a proud second generation born of Lebanese descent. She moved to Fort Worth with her new husband, Fred Mallick, shortly after their marriage on Aug. 28, 1971. A longtime member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Jean was active in the handbell choir, St. Raphael Circle, Bible study, and was devoted to its school. Beyond her own parish, she shared her time and talent with the Catholic Church as a Lady in the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem and the Auxiliary to the Discalced Carmelite Nuns. Jean loved to travel and made many pilgrimages with her son, Fr. Marc, to the Holy Land and all across Europe. She also loved Lebanese cooking, entertaining, gardening, stitching, painting and Coca-Cola. Jean approached everything she did with vivacious zeal, a love of life, and a generous spirit. When someone was in need, she met that need down to the minute detail. She was affectionately known as "the spice of the family" by her siblings. To her husband and children, she was the heart of the family. From room mother to assistant coach to business advisor, she embraced all aspects of her husband and children's lives. She was endeared as "The General" by her friends and "Mrs. Claus" because of her passion for Christmas. Cherishing her grandchildren, "Sitti" immersed herself passionately in their lives. Jean was predeceased by her son, David George Mallick. Survivors: Husband of 44 years, Fred; children, the Rev. Marcus Mallick, Jeannine Gappa and her husband, David, and Raymond Mallick and his wife, Mary Kathryn; grandchildren, Emmaline, Alisha, Anna Marie and Damian Gappa, Gianna and John Ray Mallick; and brothers and sisters, Fred Harris and his wife, Anita, Carol Deeken and her husband, Jim, Albert Harris Jr., and Linda Farchmin and husband, Roy.
