June Miller McClung Obituary
June Miller McClung passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014. Memorial service: 10:30 a.m. Friday in Gentry's Mill Cemetery in Hamilton. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the Hamilton Civic Theatre, 108 W. Ross, Hamilton, Texas 76531. June Miller McClung was born June 14, 1924, to Oma Isham Miller and Leslie Miller in Fort Worth. June graduated from Polytechnic High School. She married John Paul in the throes of World War II, and worked at General Dynamics towards the war effort. The post-war boom, coupled with hard work and ingenuity granted June and her family a prosperous life via the family business, Leslie Miller, Inc. June paid forward her good fortune in many ways, including public service with the PTA, community work and as president of the Junior Woman's Club of Fort Worth in 1955, during which time Margaret Meacham Hall was opened. June was also involved as a founding family member of Fort Worth Country Day School, providing material support any way she could. In 1977, she returned to the family homestead near Hamilton. She devoted herself to civic good for Hamilton, serving as manager of the Chamber of Commerce for six years and undertaking the creation and completion of Pecan Creek Park. She was a strong advocate and supporter of the Hamilton Woman's Council and the Hamilton Civic Theatre. June is remembered by her children for making their home a place their friends wanted to gather. The family wishes to thank the staff of Dove Hill Care Center for the loving care shown our Mother through the last years of her life. Survivors: Her children, Paula McClung Camp and John Leslie McClung; five grandchildren, Libby Camp Elliott, Cole Camp, Andrew McClung, Willis McClung and Margaret McClung; four great- grandchildren, Brae Elliott, Ezrie Camp, Bennet Camp and Kelsey Elliott.
