Lucile Trent Montgomery Obituary
Lucile Trent Montgomery, 96, passed away Friday, June 20, 2014, after a long and happy life. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 27, in Greenwood Chapel. Entombment: Greenwood Mausoleum. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, those who wish to do so may make a donation to Texas Christian University, Box 297044 Fort Worth, Texas 76129. Lucile was born July 31, 1917, to Walter E. Trent and Ruth Dooley Trent in Fort Worth. She was a graduate of Polytechnic High School. Lucile went on to attain her bachelor's degree from Texas Christian University and was a lifelong supporter of the Horned Frogs. In 1953 Lucile was working for the Fort Worth and Denver railroad when she was introduced by two of her co-workers to William S. Montgomery. She and William married in 1954 and William encouraged her to be a homemaker, which she did throughout their 59-year marriage. Shortly after their marriage, Lucile followed William to North Carolina where they spent six years with his job. After his work was finished there, they moved back to Fort Worth and lived in the same home in the Tanglewood neighborhood for over 50 years. Lucile loved flowers and gardening. She was a longtime member of the Tanglewood Garden Club and previously served as president of that organization. She also served as a volunteer at Harris Methodist Hospital and was active in United Methodist Women's Circle B2. Although Lucile and William had no children of their own, they loved their nieces and their families. Survivors: Husband, William; brothers-in-law, Joseph Montgomery and wife, Eda, and Dudley Montgomery and wife, Patty; sister-in-law, Betty Montgomery; and nieces, Melanie Damron and husband, Tyler, Leslie Przybyzewski and husband, Joe, Ann Tietyen and husband, Joe, Cecile Montgomery, Cynthia Montgomery and Amy Miller and husband, Trey.
