Marjorie W. Schanche Obituary
Marjorie Watson Schanche passed away at her home from natural causes Friday, Oct. 31, 2014. Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at St. Mark Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 4101 Hardeman, Fort Worth. A celebration of life will follow at 1 p.m. at Clubhouse on Creekview Court (off Chimney Wood Circle), Fort Worth. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Samaritan House, samaritanhouse.org, or Presbyterian Night Shelter, journeyhome.org. Margie was born Feb. 28, 1926, in Fort Worth to Paul and Arva Watson, the youngest of their four children. She was a lifelong resident of Fort Worth except for a 10-year period spent in Detroit. Margie was married twice and had three children from her first marriage: Bill, David and Lorrie Sheets. A devoted and loving mother, she was often heard to say in her later years that she considered her children to be her finest accomplishment in life. Even though she experienced disappointment and great loss in her life, she determinedly kept her heart open to the beauty and possibility of this world. Margie was very active in her church community and was committed to serving others in need. She was instrumental in founding Samaritan House and volunteered at the Presbyterian Night Shelter. Margie had a joyous, exuberant personality and loved to laugh, dance and have good times with her many friends and family. She loved traveling and learning, good food and wine, and was herself a great cook. Margie was a force of life -- a courageous and exuberant splash of color in this world. She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Bill; one brother, Paul Watson Jr.; and her husband, Carl Schanche. Survivors: Son, David Sheets; daughter, Lorrie Sheets; daughters-in-law, Janess Sheets and Lloyda French; grandchildren, Yaira Robinson, Gabriel Sheets and Michael Sheets (Jennifer); great-grandchildren, Ezekiel, Elijah and Alexander; brother, Raymond Watson; sister, Cheryl Chanslor; dear friends, Alison Moreland, Martha Gault and Betty Youngman; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
