Robert Franklin Van Aelst went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, Aug. 1, 2016. Funeral: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, at Longvue Avenue Baptist Church, 3420 Longvue Ave., Fort Worth, 76116. Interment: Because he is a retired master sergeant of the United States Army, interment will be at 1:30 p.m. in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, 75211. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, at Greenwood. He was loved by many and has left his mark of endearment on all that he came in contact with during his 73 years of life. Survivors: Beloved wife of 12 years, Jo Ann; brother, Joseph and wife, Lynn, and their daughter, Michelle; children, Fabian Neathery and wife, Jennifer, Natalie Lockhart and husband, Tim, Darla Pettway and husband, Dale, and Ronnie Neathery and wife, Stella; mother-in-love, Alline Slate, that he helped take care of for these past many years; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; many other family members and friends.

I want to thank you for serving in the military. Protecting and giving freedom to our great country.
Mr. Van, I know you was a very special man, cause you loved Jo Ann, and she loved you.
You became a father to the kids, and grandpa to the grandkids. I know you will never be forgotten. R.I.P. Mr. Van.
Go rest on that mountain, with Gods amazing grace, and the old rugged cross.

I wont be at either one because of transportation. Praying for all of you. I will miss him greatly.
