Overseer William O'Neal transitioned peacefully, quietly and with great dignity at his home Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He fought a good fight; he finished his course and, above all, he kept the faith. Celebration of life: 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at Christ Cathedral Church, 3201 Purington Ave., Fort Worth, Apostle Sherman C. Gee Allen, eulogist. Bishop L.A Kennedy, officiant. Interment: Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield, Wis. Visitation: Noon to 9 p.m. Friday at Gregory W. Spencer Funeral Directors, 4000 Miller Ave., Fort Worth. Friends and family are asked to gather on the grounds of Christ Catherdral Church at 10 a.m. to receive Overseer O'Neal in the "Spencer White Chariot." Overseer O'Neal was preceded in death by his stepfather, Dewey Smith Sr.; grandparents, William and Lucille Crawford; and two aunts, Lois Stribling and Lucy Smith. Survivors: He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife, Laura O'Neal; his loving mother, Gertrude Smith of Milwaukee, Wis.; daughters, LaTanya O'Neal, Sheree O'Neal and Deneice Cobb of Arlington; sons, Barry Jackson and Dennis Jackson of Arlington; siblings, Carma Teasley (Steven), Gary Glispie, Fred O'Neal, Debbie Nance and Dewey Smith Jr., all of Milwaukee, Wis.; eight grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. His family would not be complete without mentioning the New Life in Christ Ministries Church.

“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.  For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.  So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2Cor. 4:16-18

My prayers are with the family. Pastor O'Neal and his church family extended their hospitality to myself and my friend while we visited Dallas. It was a priviledge to meet a man of integrity in addition being spiritual representation of the Word. May his family, both personal and spiritual, be comforted by the memories of fellowship.

My prayers are with you and your family. I enjoyed him every time he visted Mt. Pilgrim MBC in Milwaukee, my friend and I even had the honor of visiting him at his church in Texas one year. Him and his wife took us on a small tour of the city. He wanted to take us out to eat, but we had to get ready for the all star game that year in Dallas. He was just as nice and down to earth. I will truly miss him.

There will never be another man like Pastor William O'Neal. His smile, his swagg, his energy, his passion, his compassion, his way of teaching, his jokes, his laugh. I was there at the beginning of New Life Ministries and have seen him go thru, struggle, cry and endure with his head held high and holding on to his faith and encouraging everyone else to do the same. No matter what may have come, he would never give up on God. He was a true inspiration and example and will be missed terribly.

Lady O'Neal, it is evident that Overseer O'neal "...fought a good fight,...kept the faith..., finished his course"; he's smiling mighty big now because he's preparing to get the crown of righteousness he lived for and preached about.

So you be strong and of good courage, God has never left you, in fact he's holding you close this very moment. My prayers are with you, your family, and the church family. Love you dearly.
