Walter Clay Dixson Obituary
Walter Clay Dixson, 88, a beloved father, husband and grandfather, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: Noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at Greenwood. Memorials: Expression of sympathy may be made to the Protestant Chapel at St. Francis Retirement Village in Crowley. Walter was born Feb. 23, 1926, in Fort Worth and was a graduate of Polytechnic High School in 1943. He served in the Texas State Guard during World War II. He retired after 40 years with Dun & Bradstreet in 1986. Since retirement, he enjoyed golf, senior softball and writing. He was a member of Glen Garden Country Club for 40 years, served on the Texas Golden Gloves staff for 40 years and was past president of Operation Orphans Inc. Walter was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline Dixson. Survivors: Wife of 22 years, Leta Dixson; daughters, Kathy McKinney, Connie Guffie and Darlene Tullos; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; stepson, Rickey McKay; stepdaughter, Glenda Jackson; and 15 stepgrandchildren.
