Richard Alvin McDuff, 73, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, following a lengthy illness. Service: private. Richard was born in Tyler to Rubye and Maurice McDuff. He grew up in Fort Worth, graduating from Polytechnic High School in 1959. He served as an aviator in the U.S. Navy and enjoyed a lifelong career as a commercial airline pilot with Eastern and EVA airlines. He completed his career training pilots for Korean Air. In addition to fishing and baseball, he had a passion for trains, especially steam engine travel. A favorite trip was on Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad's Engine #278. Survivors: Wife, Maureen; daughter, Jordan and husband, Pedro; grandson, Oliver Richard, all of Florida; sisters, Patsy of Colleyville and Jan of North Richland Hills; aunt, Mim of Athens; numerous cousins; and longtime friends.
