Holly
How sad I was to hear of your Mom's passing. I always enjoyed being around her when I brought her a new supply of her Jafra! I miss seeing you too, and would love to catch up with you one of these days, and meet your little boy. I was very happy for you when your Mom told me about him.
Again, my deepest sympathies to you. You were a lucky gal to have such a terrific Mom.

August 22, 2015

My deepest sympathy to Kay's family. I taught with Kay at Notre Dame and was also a parent of Notre Dame students. Kay was instrumental in helping our son with learning difficulties. Because of her help and concern he was able to graduate from College and has become a successful person. She shared her concern and compassion for all students. She will be missed.
God Bless and continued prayers,

To Kay's family:
May you find peace at this difficult time. Kay was a big help to me as a new principal with the Fort Worth Diocesan Schools. I could always count on her for sound advice, a good listening ear and positive cheer.

I had the privelege of having Kay as my principal first at Immaculate Conception in Denton and again at St. Elizabeth's. When I moved from Denton to Fort Worth so my son Matt could attend Nolan, I called Kay and said I was in need of a job. She(Kay) said not to worry, she would have one for me. Kay always put the kids first and had the biggest smile on her face. Vicki Threat

August 21, 2015

Dear Denver
So sorry to hear of Kay's passing. I do remember her love of others and laughter. We all seem to just continue on with our busy lives and lose track of good friends. I know what you are feeling now and the main thing that got me through losing Burnie was knowing that God knows what's best for us all and that, just like Kay, God wanted him in heaven. Rest in the spirit and comfort of Jesus. Kay's doing that right now.

My family evacuated to Keller,TX during Hurricane Katrina and Mrs.Burrell welcomed us with open arms and helped us in every way she could. She immediately took in my brother and I into the school and made sure we felt welcomed. We then had to move back, only to return a few years later. I began 7th grade at SEAS and still Mrs.Burrell was as warm and welcoming as ever. I'm now a senior in High School living in the DC area, but I still remember everything she did. She will forever be remembered by every student who's life she touched.

This is my daughter Scarlett's 7th year at St. Elizabeth's. Every year we have always looked forward to her first day pictures outside the school, with her teachers, and of course with Mrs. Burrell. We will miss you and the guidance you have given this school and its students. You have been a wonderful, kind, and constant spirit for us. It is a privilege to have known you and watched my daughter grow along side you. There was a quote that you said in your second to last email to the parents and it has stuck with me.
Let nothing disturb you,
Let nothing frighten you,
All things are passing away:
God never changes.
Patience obtains all things
Whoever has God lacks nothing;
God alone suffices.

I am so sorry to hear this and my thoughts go out to her family.
I knew her in her capacity as principal at SEAS and while I saw her a bit too often from a mother's standpoint, she also showed me that she could still look at the positive side of things and was extremely reassuring. She was just simply wonderful.

Over the years we've been asked "why St. Elizabeth's?" "Why do you work and pray so hard to send your daughter there?" Many variations of the same question, but always one answer... because Mrs. Burrell is there! Thank you for the love and care you've shown throughout these years. We feel truly blessed to have even met you. We thank the family for sharing their beloved Kay with us. Go in peace.

Mrs. Burrell was a wonderful woman; in her faith, her career in education, and in life. She knew my family extensively from St. John's and St. Elizabeth's, and guided me through some of the most formative years of my childhood at school. I was deeply saddened to hear of her passing but take comfort knowing she is at peace. I appreciate everything she taught and did for me during my elementary school years. She will be sorely missed and will forever hold a special place in my heart.

My husband and I met Mrs Burrell when we enrolled our daughter to SEAS for kinder. She's now in 2nd grade. Mrs Burrell was so compassionate....we were contemplating home schooling due to our daughters severe egg allergy. She was frank, and so very concerned for our child. I will never forget our meeting.
She reassured me the safety of our child and we decided to enroll her. After our meeting she stood up and I reached for a hug, and she gladly and compassionately hugged all 3 of us. Although we were new to the school, she remembered us every time we crossed paths.
Thank you Mrs Burrell for leaving a motherly spirit in our school. We will miss your voice on the intercom and presence at school.......THANK YOU for your Faithful Leadership. You remain as a true Blessing to us and so many others. God Bless you and your entire family.

I was a student at SEAS for 9 years. My eighth grade year was extremely rough, and I have Mrs. Burrell to thank for saving me from myself. She is the reason I finally got the help I needed for myself. I remember sitting in her office with tears streaming down my face (partly because I'd never been in the principal's office before, and it was very nerve wracking for me), and her just taking my hands and leading me to her bathroom. She stood behind me, hands on my shoulders, and said "Rachel, what do you see here?" And when I didn't say anything, she said "I see one of the most beautiful girls I've ever later eyes on, with the kindest heart, body and soul. You are so worth it. You can beat these demons, and I'll always be here if you need me." I'll never ever forget that day. I had been wanting to go back and see her, being a senior at NCHS now, and just thank her from the bottom of my heart. I'm so sorry that I never even got to tell you how grateful I am for you. I know that you went straight to heaven; you were the most saintly woman. Rest in peace, Mrs. Burrell. Forever in our hearts.

We are so sorry for your loss. The passing of this outstanding woman will be a huge loss for so many people. Although we did not know her on the intimate level that most of the people posting here did, she nevertheless made an indelible mark on our lives and the life of our 4yr old foster granddaugther !! Her smile and warmth radiated forth & was contagious to the children. I will always cherish the memory from Eva the night before her pre-K3 graduation & party. I had reviewed with her the "goodie "bags for her classmates & the presents for her teacher and the assistant and was getting her into bed when she said "oh Granny, you FORGOT MRS. BURRELL " I told her that it was okay to just take care of her class but she told me quite emphatically, "NO IT IS NOT! , MRS. BURRELL needs a present so she can SMILE TOO " Needless to say, I went shopping for a present early the next morning before time for the party. MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL, REST IN PEACE MRS.BURRELL. ........Georgia & Weldon Damewood & EVA GRACE

Dear Denver, Holly, Tony and Max,
Larry and I are so sorry to hear of your loss. Kay was such a generous and caring person. I can still remember her kindness when she was at St. John's. Her laughter as she threw her head back with complete abandonment when she found something unexpectly funny was infectious. She will be missed by all who were touched by her sweet spirit. May you be comforted at this time.

Dear Denver, Holly, Tony & Max,
There are no words to describe the sadness I feel. The questions that I have for our dear Lord are many. I loved Kay, she was a true friend. She was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and educator to her many children. The world lost a truly good woman and heaven gained her. Be patient my friends for this journey is long. Do not be afraid or terrified, for the Lord your God goes with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you.
Peace of our Lord be with you all,
Rose
