Jessie Mae Hays Davenport Obituary
Jessie Mae Hays Davenport passed away Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2015, in Grand Junction, Colo., after a brief illness. Graveside service: 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, in Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel. She enjoyed collecting antiques and specialized mostly in glass pieces. She once played the violin and was a member of the All-City Symphony while attending Polytechnic High School in 1947. She was a nurse for the Fort Worth public schools for 35 years and received her master's from TCU. Chrysanthemums were her favorite flower and she also enjoyed the companionship of her two dogs, CoCo and Trudy. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. B.D. Hays; and her sister, Shirley Gentry, all of Fort Worth. Survivors: Her son, Ron Davenport of Champion, Texas: grandson, Shane Davenport and sister, Betty Cannizzaro, both of Fort Worth; one niece; and several nephews.
