Barbara Dean Tharp Glosup Obituary
Barbara Dean Tharp Glosup, 83, a homemaker, passed into everlasting life Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015, at a local nursing home. Service: 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Laurel Land Chapel of Chimes. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Laurel Land Funeral Home of Fort Worth. Memorials: , in lieu of flowers. Barbara was born Feb. 11, 1932, in Temple, Bell County, to George Washington and Pauline Lowry Tharp. She grew up on the east side of Fort Worth and was a proud "Poly Parrot" graduate. She worked at Southwestern Bell telephone before marrying the love of her life, Ted Glosup, at age 19. It was a union that lasted one month shy of 64 years when her beloved passed in July after a short illness. Barbara and Ted were longtime residents of Crowley, having moved there in 1973 from Fort Worth. Barbara, a lifelong Baptist, loved her family first and foremost, taking care of the grandchildren after she retired from Kent Industries. She enjoyed plants and flowers, weekend trips to the Stagecoach Inn in Salado and music (from Benny Goodman to Motown) but her favorite song was the Beach Boys' "Barbara Ann." She was appreciated for her dry wit and her strength; a few fears were going over bridges and swimming. She leaves behind three generations who will remember the legacy she and Ted built and who, along with extended family, friends and neighbors, will miss them both dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Pauline Tharp; her husband, Ted Ray Glosup, on July 22, 2015; and first grandchild, Paul Giles. Survivors: Children, Deana Giles and husband, Ronny, Debra Blevins and husband, Roger, Stephen Glosup and wife, Sonia; daughter, Teresa Jarrett; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren, including three special blessings this year, Caleb James, Lilyan Mae and Landrie Judith. God is good.
