Robert M. Holt Sr.

Robert Mackinley Holt Sr., 91, passed away Monday, Aug. 15, 2016. Memorial service: 9:30 a.m. Friday in Greenwood Chapel. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Genesis United Methodist Church, 7635 South Hulen St., Fort Worth, Texas, 76133. Bob was born on July 31, 1925, in Monroe, La. He was the son of the late Frank Benton Holt and Thyra Denholme Holt. He was married to Elizabeth Golson Holt for 62 wonderful years. He served in the U.S. Navy as a radarman in the Pacific Campaign. He had a long career in the industrial water well industry and was the district manager for Layne Louisiana Co. in Lake Charles, La. and Layne Atlantic Co. in Norfolk, Va. He lived in Lake Charles for almost 50 years. He was active in the Oak Park United Methodist Church and the St. Luke-Simpson United Methodist Church. Bob and Elizabeth moved to Fort Worth in 2008 to be near their grandchildren. He was an avid golfer and a lifelong bird watcher. He was a fine gentleman and a loving husband, father, and grandfather. The family would like to express its appreciation for the care provided by the staff at The Stayton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, George Holt; his older brother, Ben Holt; and his sister, Thyra Russell. Survivors: Wife, Elizabeth; son, Robert M. Holt Jr. and his wife, Peggy, as well as their children, Rachel Holt Hausser and her husband, Ford, and Robert M. "Mack" Holt III.
