Leo Garrett Perdue FORT WORTH--Dr. Leo Garrett Perdue, 70, died on July 25, 2017. MEMORIAL SERVICE: 11 a.m. Monday in the Robert Carr Chapel at Texas Christian University. Leo Garrett Perdue was born Oct. 7, 1946, in Paul's Valley, Okla., to Leo Dennis and Lottie May Stanton Perdue. He was an All-State Tournament basketball player and played on the 1964 State Championship team. Leo received his Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible and Linguistics from Vanderbilt University in 1975. He served as professor of Hebrew Bible, as Dean and was the first president of Brite Divinity School. When he retired in 2011, he was voted Professor Emeritus of Hebrew Bible. During his career, he was the author of several books. SURVIVORS: His children, Nicole Ryan and husband, Reid, Hayden Perdue and wife, Sherry, Jillian Kata and husband, Matt; grandchildren, Jackson, Victoria and Ella Ryan; Avery and Chase Perdue; Gentry and Tripp Kata; brother, Danny Perdue.
