I knew Doris Stewart only by the name of "Nana" as I was her first Grandson(Jason) to call her that. Today with my Grandmother's recent passing I celebrate her long blessed life of a hundred years. She was very strong in her faith in GOD, and I always remember her saying that her and PAPA were truly blessed with all they had been given in their lives. I remember the amazing stories she would tell me about the days of picking cotton on the farm with her family as a young girl and how much she missed our Grandfather when he went off to World War II, and she kept the most warm loving kitchen I ever knew, with every meal she poured her sweet heart into....everything just seemed to taste better in Nana's kitchen, she had some God given magic with cooking food, I never found her magic wand, but I often looked for it as a young boy, Lol. She gave the best hugs, and always opened her home to family when we came to visit, there was not a time in the day where her kindness was off duty. It seems like yesterday I was sitting at her table and enjoying her company, I keep these memories deep in my heart like a collection of pictures. And maybe that is all we get to take with us from this life, and if we are blessed we have some beautiful ones in our collection. Thank you for being my Grandmother and loving me, I love you Nana, I do not look at this as good bye because you will always be in my heart. Tell Papa hello for me. God Bless.~ Jay
