JOE MCCAIN
COMMERCIAL POINT-Joseph "Joe" La Rue McCain, 83, of Commercial Point, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 after a brief illness.
Joe was born August 20, 1933, a son of the late Charles Stanley and Emma Justice McCain in the old home place on Fallen Timber in Lucasville.
He was a decorated US Army veteran serving in the Korean War and retiring in 1971 with 20 years of service. After retiring from the Army he made his home in Circleville and worked several years for the United States Postal Service and Beaver's Tile Company.
Joe is survived by three daughters, Susan (Scott) Dillon, Beverly (David) Hammond, and Carla (Wayne) Beavers and their mother, Bonnie McCain; 8 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Charlie (Ellen) McCain; and numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Leslie Paul "Bus", Stanley "Bud", Pauline, Betty Jean, twins Willard "Pudge" and Wilda "Pete", Nancy, and three infants, Cecil, Anna, and Eva.
Joe loved people, and his family was his life. He had a talent for making everyone feel special by always remembering everyone's birthdays. His love of family and caring qualities made him special to all. He had a passion for golf and loved to tell humorous stories.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday, August 29, 2016 at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville with Rev. Lowell King officiating. Burial will follow in Jacob's Cemetery with graveside military rites performed by the William A. Baker and James F. Irwin Posts of the American Legion. Friends may call from noon till the funeral hour on Monday.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a veteran or kidney charity of your choice.
