I remember Dad working so hard, with after work classes to advance his knowledge and career, all so he could be a better provider for us. He succeeded and certainly helped me with college and medical school costs. Thanks Dad

Eulogy written and delivered by Mark Bushek
On behalf of my mother, brothers and sisters I want to share these thoughts about our father. Our dad, father, and mentor had three great loves in life.
His first love was for his devout wife of 61 years and his extended family. Dad would do anything for his family - except become the priest that his parents wished for- something we are all thankful for. He was always there for mom, his siblings, children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. As he and mom often said, “We are always here for you and proud of you.” Dad had many kind words of advice for us, but he knew when to temper his thoughts with reality and morality. Dad held high expectations for us, but cared most that we were happy and well loved. Our parents scrimped and saved and were proud that they put all five of us through college. They took joy in our successes and shared encouragements during our failures.
Speaking of scrimping and saving, Dad's second love was camping. Mom and Dad were children of the depression and knew thriftiness well. He loved the packing, the backing in and out of the trailer, setting it up in the rain, those cold nights when we slept in winter coats and especially mom's spam and potatoes. In 1967, Mom and Dad took the family on a cross country trip for a month for less than a thousand dollars. I have been to 45 states, Canada and Mexico due largely to our camping trips with Mom and Dad. Seriously, we all know dad pretty much hated camping, but he never verbalized it because he treasured the time with us.
Dad's third love was integrity. He held himself and his family accountable to do the loving, kind and just thing. Dad taught us honesty, trustworthiness, kindness, empathy, compassion and most of all that life is about giving and sharing. We shared many happy times with dad, talking, listening, playing golf and watching sports. But most importantly, his presence, physical or distant even without words, was always a comfort. My last memory of Dad is watching the Ohio State-Michigan game this year. When it ended, I asked if he wanted to take a nap or watch Penn State, he answered strongly “Penn State.”
Dad was an old school business man, always concerned with doing the right thing, not the thing that maximized today's stock price or profit. When he was promoted to vice president, he was most proud that the chairman told him, “I need someone I can trust to tell the truth.” Dad knew that in the long term the business that would succeed was the one that was fair to its employees and customers.
Similarly in life, Dad knew that a life that was that just and true was a life well spent. We are grateful to have had such a role model for a parent.
Dad – you will always be present in our lives and hearts. We love you.

I worked at Farm Bureau Insurance in the sunmmer of 1948 after graduating from Ashville Ohio High School. Farm Bureau, shortly thereafter, changed its name to Nationwide Insurance and opened a regional office in Harrisburg, PA. where Joe was a supervisor. Joe was very helpful and kind to us, (country bumpkins) I had never been out of the state before, so it was quite an exciting experience. Quite a few of us employees went there to work for several weeks. Then when the New Haven Regional Office opened, many of us moved there to work. I met Joe at the home office at least on one occasion and was pleased that he remembered me, from among the many new faces he met at Harrisburg. He was a very kind person, admired and respected by all who knew him. My sincere sympathy. Rose Mary (Stewart) Jamsion, (Am 81 years old now. Can't believe it!)
