Dr. Lomeo saved the sight in my left eye. He was a transcendent Dr. in that he was more than a Dr., he was a friend who was able to transfer his confidence to the patient when things were just downright scary. He was my friend and I will never forget him. We ask ourselves why does something like this happen. In God's own way he had something for Dr. Lomeo to do in heaven. I will always remember him and to this day I think about him often. God Bless the pain his family has endured and it is my hope good things come for his family in the future. Dr. Lomeo holds a special place in my heart today, tomorrow and forever.

Dr. Lomeo did a vitrectomy on my left eye back in 2010, and it essentially saved my eyesight. I had been a patient of his from time to time up until then. He was a real pro and seemed like a genuinely good person. I was shocked when I heard of his passing, not realizing he'd been ill. The medical community and his patients, friends and family are, I'm certain, keenly feeling his loss. I'm so sorry.

I got to know Dr. Lomeo as a salesman in the ophthalmology field and came to know him as an excellent surgeon, but more importantly as an outstanding person. I offer my deepest sympathy to his family hoping there is solace knowing the rich legacy he left with the many people's lives he touched.

I am so sadden by the loss of a wonderful Doctor. I first met Dr. Lomeo 9 years ago when I was told I had macular degeneration of the eye. I was so afraid and he sat me down and explained to me what this all meant. He was so kind, and caring. I walked out of the office knowing God had sent me to one of his healing angels. He always had a kind word and a smile even when he was so sick. The world lost a very special doctor, husband, father, son and friend. May God bless his family and may they know he made a difference for so many.

We are shocked and saddened by the news of Dr. Lomeos passing. My husband has been a patient for many years and always felt like he was with family there. He always referred to Doctor Lomeo as his "retina guru!"
God's peace be with all of you...he will be sorely missed.

Dr Lomeo was one of the people I admired most in my life. I am devastated to hear of his death. Three years ago I came home from dinner out and sat down to watch the news. 1/3 of my vision in my right eye was gone. I was terrified. In the morning I made an emergency appt. with my ophthalmologist, who made arrangements for me to see Dr. Lomeo within the hour. Dr Lomeo performed surgery right there in the office on a Saturday morning. He saw me again on Sunday morning to finish the procedure. I will never forget this man who did not know me from Adam, but saw me 2 days in a row and totally saved my vision. My deepest sympathy to his family. I just want you to know, I am not the only patient who feels this way. Your friend, father, husband, son, brother ... your doctor .... was an incredible man. He faced his own battles but reached out to help others in a way that was unbelievable. What an incredible man. God has a plan for him, so keep your eyes open!!!

I had the fortune to work with Dr. Mark Lomeo as a technician and photographer. He and Chris Griggs and I traveled together often and I remember always looking forward to the work day if I new I was working on his schedule. He treated us all with the utmost professionalism and good nature. His patients loved him as much the staff. Even on his worst days he found ways to smile laugh play pranks and tell jokes. We all witnessed him comfort his patients when he had to deliver bad news. It wasn't out of the norm to see him pray with his patients upon request. He was blessed with healing hands, a loving heart and great sense of humor. I remember him as an amazing husband and father who loved his family beyond words. I think we were all so blessed to have known him. He will be missed greatly. My condolences to your family.

I initially met Dr. Lomeo in 2001 after seeing my family doctor concerning some eye problems I was experiencing. That same day my family doctor referred me to an opthamologist. The opthamologist then referred me to Dr. Lomeo that same day. This was all in the space of 3 hours. Dr. Lomeo worked me into his schedule and told me I had a detached retina. He explained the seriousness of a detached retina to me and said I needed surgery. I said when. He said in about an hour. To say that my chin hit the floor would be an understatement. I lost a little periferal vision, but he saved the vast majority of my vision. I will be forever grateful to him. I was shocked and very saddened to hear of his passing. I was supposed to see him two days later for my annual checkup. I know unusual things can happen to people but I don't quite understand them. He lived his life to the fullest and helped many people. He gave his children a great model on which to live their lives. May God bless him, and may God comfort his family during this difficult time.

Dr. Lomeo was an extremely compassionate and wonderful Doctor. I can't thank him and his family enough for the care he gave my mother when she had a hemorrhage in her eye shortly after my dad passed away. He truly cared about what she was going through and gave her comfort and hope to continue on and have the necessary surgery. When she passed, he even sent a card. I am saddened to hear what he was dealing with while he was comforting others. Not gone...just patiently waiting at the end of the trail. May God bless his family and friends with the comfort only He can provide.

Dr Lameo will be missed by many. I will be one of them.
Our first meeting took place at Midwest Retina. I was in tears because I was sent there by my regular eye doctor after a shocking exam revealed my sight was deteriorating quickly. He literally held my had and told me I'd be ok. Here I am 6 years later -many surgeries, shots and my sight is 20/30.
I can say I was so scared but he made me feel so comforted.
I'm sure ALL his patients felt the same. He was a wonderful doctor and man. I will never forget him and will continue my journey at Midwest Retina because of his kindness and expertise.
God speed.
