Romie Rexal McDonald, age 84, March 28, 2018. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle. Romie was born in Spencer, West Virginia on June 9, 1933. Preceded in death by wife of 54 years, Delores (Williams) McDonald; parents, Dale Somerville of Parkersburg, West Virginia and Haze McDonald of Akron; brother, Holly "Junior" McDonald of Bozeman, Montana; sister, Violet Koon of Summit; brother, Glen "Bud" McDonald of Reynoldsburg, and daughter-in-law, Janet (Grigsby) McDonald of Columbus. Survived by son, Gary and Roxann McDonald of Groveport; daughter, Pamela Miller and Leon Marks of Canal Winchester; daughter, Terri and Jeff Babbert of Blacklick; son, Timothy McDonald of Columbus; daughter, Sherry and Kevin Duemmel of Reynoldsburg; grandchildren, Brian, Milo, Brandy, Andrea, Kaitlynn, Marcus, and Nicole; 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Veteran of the wars in Korea and Vietnam. Purple Heart recipient. Retired from the U.S. Army, U.S. Postal Service, and Ohio Custodial Maintenance. Member of New Life Church Gahanna. Romie was an avid lover of exercise, yard work, and cars. He contributed to numerous charities and those in need. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 pm Thursday at Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., where the funeral service will begin at 12:30 pm Friday, April 6, 2018. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Contributions in his memory can be made to Romie's church, New Life Gahanna, 3690 N. Stygler Rd. Gahanna, OH 43230 or Motts Military Museum, 5075 S. Hamilton Rd. Groveport, OH 43125.
