Nigel it was such a pleasure to have you apart of my life. Your personality always brighten up a room. It was such a pleasure to be your boss, and friend. My son Niko absolutely adores you. When the news broke on T.V. about your passing he just so happen to be sitting with me. He said "Mr. Nigel was awesome he taught me not to he scared to go down the water slide. I will miss Mr. Nigel". You have touch so many hearts that I am sure you didnt even realize it. You are one of a kind and someone who will truly be missed. I thank your parents for sharing you with us! Rest easy my dear friend!

Nigel meant the world to me. He really showed me how my job could impact the lives of my students outside of athletics and injuries. He looked up to me, he showed me every day just how important I was to him, and I'll never forget that. Nigel was a light in my life, and he will be sorely missed. I love you Nigel!! Rest in Heaven, my angel.

I'm not even sure where to begin. While our chapter in Nigels book of life was a small one, it was as impactful as any I will ever know. When Nigel came to Lafayette, La to play football for me, he arrived as a passionate young man, that only wanted to play football. It was his dream to play college ball. My wife vividly remembers at our first game this hulk of a young man sobbing to himself. When she asked him what was wrong, he answered, he had no one at the game that loved him watching. That was a turning point in all of our relationships with him. From that point forward my wife would cook for him all the time, he would dance and sing with my daughters, rocking my wifes vehicle back and forth to the music. We always made sure he had anything he needed and never felt alone again. He would always protect and look out for my daughters, making sure they were ok, and they would tell everyone he was their brother. We loved Nigel as our own. We were able to have Nigel with us for only a short year. A year of laughter, smiles, and love. We were able to help instill in him to believe that he could do anything he put his mind too, along with everyone else that loved him, telling him the same. He was so proud when he made it to college, and was finally able to chase that dream of playing college ball. He was proud of his Debate team, and he was so proud of his grades. And he loved his family so much. I remember when he was here he refused to get his haircut because he said nobody would touch his head except for his dad. We spoke to him all the time, sometimes daily. We always said the distance would never stop the love, and he was always with us. And now the same is still true. We cried the day he left us to go home to Ohio, and we cry now for him going home again. Our prayers go out to his friends and family that all love him as we do. He was a bright light, a one of a kind spirit. I know he is watching over all of us now.
Love Always,
Coach Caldwell, Jeana, Kaitlyn, and Gabbie

I met Nigel when I was just a teenager. He was vibrant, sweet, fun loving and full of life. I carried those memories with me as I grew older and although I lost immediate contact with the family I never stopped watching the younger kids grow up! I just want to send my love and condolences as you experience this time of bereavement. May God comfort you all through this time. All my love Megan

Nigel was one of the most bright, funny, caring & loving individuals I've ever had the pleasure of getting to know. Anytime we would talk or hang out he always left me with a smile on my face. I remember when I met him last year within the first conversation he had me laughing. He was a genuine friend & always wanted the best for people around him. Nigel was such a beautiful & joyful soul. My love goes out to his family & friends from the bottom of my heart along with my prayers.
