Alvin Stanley Kauffman, age 90, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2018 at the Kensington Place. He is preceded in death by his parents Jack and Evelyn Kauffman, his brother Willard and his beloved wife of over 55 years, Mary Lou. He is survived by his children, Tim (Kari), Doug, and Debbie (Ron) Fox, all of Columbus; grandchildren, Erin (Joe) Fiorito, Jeremy (Toria) Fox, Jordan Fox, Evan Kauffman, Jack Kauffman; and great grandchild, Elizabeth Fiorito. He was a lifelong resident of Columbus and graduated from South High School in 1945. He was an accomplished three sport athlete and played professional baseball. Al was inducted in one of the first classes of the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame. He worked for the Franklin County Engineering Department as their Human Resource Director and managed many of their election campaigns. He was also very active in local and statewide democratic organizations. He was a professional sports photographer for over 50 years. Al was a very active and award winning sportsman in his adult life focusing on bowling, fast pitch softball and golf. The family would like to thank the amazing caretakers at Kensington Place and Heartland Hospice; especially his nurses Megan Simpson and Crystal Foster. Funeral services will be Friday, January 12 at 11 am at the Epstein Memorial Chapel, 3232 E. Main St. Burial will follow at New Agudas Achim Cemetery. Shiva will be observed at the home of Debbie and Ron Fox on Sunday, January 14 from 2-5 pm.
