Ann R. Parker Obituary
Parker, Ann R.
1918 - 2018
Ann Rosalie Parker, Delaware Ohio, died peacefully at age 99+ surrounded by her family on February 3, 2018. She is preceded in death by her husband, George J Parker, MD, of Delaware Ohio, her parents Anna Beatrice and Benjamin Franklin of Stanberry, MO. She was a wonderful mother with progressive ideas on eating, exercise and education. She cultivated her own gardens of vegetables, a small orchard of fruit trees, made sure the children were outside playing with the neighbors, the Wolfs, and encouraged them to participate in sports and attend whatever high schools and colleges that would move them forward in life. She served as President of the St Mary's Altar and Rosary Guild, President of St. Mary's Mothers Club, President of the Auxiliary of the Hospital Board, Auxiliary President of the Medical Society, Western Deanery Representative to the Archdiocese of Columbus, and volunteered at Jane Case Hospital (now Grady). For drivers on the street, she would frequently get a honk or a wave from passers-by as she mowed her lawn on her tractor until well into her nineties. Anyone who entered Ann's house was greeted with interest, remembering details about aspects of the visitors' life, family and political persuasion. She never tired of current events – she had a laptop, skype, got instructions from Alexa and Siri ('her girls') and listened to books on tape before it was popular. She had strong opinions, and she was usually right. Almost all conversations in her later years turned to politics. She loved the controversy and in most debates, google fact checks said she was right. The family will miss these debates and the energy and level of detail she so often knew. She never lost her memory, even in her waning days and hours. The family is grateful that she could engage in conversations, remembering specific details until the end. Ann is survived by her 7 children: Joe Parker (Teri) of Cincinnati, Dave Parker (Judy) of Manchester, VT, Rosalie Parker Innacelli (Guido) of Raleigh, NC, Steve Parker (Susan) of Delaware, Dan Parker of Delaware, Jeannee Parker Martin (Mike) of San Francisco, CA, and Beth Parker-O'Brien (Pat) of Easton, MD. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Christa McAndrew (Mark), Kevin Parker (Jocelyn), Michael Parker, Lisa Innacelli, Christopher Innacelli (Shana), Katie Lindberg (Dan), Ryan Parker (Stephanie), Keegan O'Brien, Colin O'Brien (Katherine), Caitlin O'Brien, Maria Martin, Christopher Martin (fiancé Susan Kolber), and Theresa Martin; and great grandchildren: Griffin, Catherine, Nora, Hatcher, Aislinn, Anna, Everly, and Maeve. Ann and her family wish to thank the staff of OhioHealth Home Health, OhioHealth Hospice, and 3E at Grady Hospital. We will be forever grateful to Dr. Charles VonGunten, Sue Reverone, and Brenda Davenport who provided excellent care and advice over the past year. The family also would like to thank the Wolf and Yoakum families and many other visitors who visited regularly. The family requests contributions be made to OhioHealth Hospice or to The Parker Library at Grady Hospital (561 W. Central Ave, Delaware, OH 43015 for both). Visitation will be Monday 5-7 P.M. at Robinson Funeral Home with a Rosary service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at noon in St. Mary Catholic Church in Delaware with Father Sylvester Onyeachonam as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
