Anna Holderman Obituary
Holderman, Anna
1922 - 2018
Anna "Ann" L. Holderman, age 95, of Upper Arlington, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on Monday, March 26, 2018. Ann was born October 2, 1922 in Columbus, Ohio the daughter of John and Iva Jividen. She was the oldest of three girls (sisters, Ruth Esswein and Reba Alton) and an older brother (Carl Jividen). She was raised in the south end of Columbus where she graduated from South High School. After graduating, she went directly to work for Ohio Finance Co. Her lunch hours were most often spent taking the bus to Lazarus to shop (one of her favorite hobbies). She met and married Robert E. Holderman in 1948, had two children, Robin and Kris, and was blessed with 58 years of marriage. Ann was a long time member of First Community Church and Guild Group Y, Scioto Country Club, OSU President's Club and The Columbus Club. She was an avid OSU fan and attended every home football and basketball game until her later years. She always kept up with the teams in front of her TV at home. She loved having lunch and playing bridge with her many friends and in her earlier years, playing tennis. She loved children, fresh cut flowers, art, and Graeter's vanilla and peach ice cream. She also loved to clean and kept her home of 63 years immaculate. She had a talent for organization, an eye for decorating and a love of fashion. She was generous to a fault - always thinking of others before herself. Above all else, Ann was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother. Nothing gave her greater pleasure than being around family and she will be deeply missed. Ann is preceded in death by her husband Bob, brother Carl and sister Ruth. She is survived by her son, Robin Holderman; daughter, Kris Hurd (Mike); grandson, Adam Holderman (Jena); great grandchildren, Nola, Hudson and Ryker Holderman; sister, Reba Alton; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family is incredibly grateful to Betty, Susan, Sue, Connie and Jennifer for the loving care they gave Ann which enabled her to remain in her home. A private burial will be held for the family at Green Lawn Cemetery. A public memorial service will be held at First Community Church at a later date. Details to follow. Ann was an advocate and supporter of the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital & Solove Research Institute at The Ohio State University. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, charitable contributions in her memory be made to The James Cancer Hospital & Solove Research Institute, c/o OSUCCC - James Development Office, 660 Ackerman Rd., P.O. Box 183112, Columbus, OH 43218. Arrangements by SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL. Visit www.schoedinger.com to send online condolences to the family.
