Anna Mae Millard Obituary
Millard, Anna Mae
Anna Mae (Foresman) Millard was born October 19, 1926, in Mullens, West Virginia, and passed away on September 12, 2017. She was the daughter of George H. and Ethel (Combs) Foresman. She had one brother, George E. Foresman, who preceded her in death. They lived in Bluefield, West Virginia during her childhood. At the age of 13, she was awarded a scholarship to study piano performance at the University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music (CCM) after winning a state-wide piano competition in the 13-18-year-old group. Because she had been advanced from First grade directly to Fourth grade during elementary school, she graduated from high school at the age of 16. That fall, she boarded the train for Cincinnati to begin her very successful four-year course of study. Although she was groomed to be a concert pianist, her heart told her that a life on the road was not for her. Instead, she returned to Bluefield after college, and began her 50+ year career as a nurturing, loving piano teacher, teaching upwards of 70 students a week and performing with local orchestras. She met Norman R. Millard through a close friend, and it was, as they say, love at first sight. They were married in August 1956, and settled in Columbus, Ohio. Excepting one four-year stint in northern Ohio, they lived in Bexley till Norman's death in 2005. Anna Mae stayed in Columbus until early 2011, when she moved to the Cincinnati area to be closer to her daughter, Carol. Anna Mae was a Christian who embodied the teachings of our Lord and Savior. She served in her church all her life; she taught children's choirs, accompanied services on piano, performed for musicals and soloists, and sang in the choir. She loved people. Anna Mae is survived by her son, Jeff (Donna) Millard (grandchildren, Megan Millard and Greg (Sophie) Millard, and great-grandson, Owen); and daughter, Carol (Scott) Kosarko (grandchildren, Alex Kosarko and Rachel Kosarko); sister-in-law, Ernestine Foresman; and sister-in-law, Betsy Millard; as well as nieces, nephews, and many friends. Services have been arranged for Saturday, September 23 at the Bexley United Methodist Church, 2657 East Broad Street, Bexley, OH 43209. The family will receive visitors at 10 a.m. There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m., followed immediately by a light lunch, also at the church. Please do not send flowers. Instead, please direct funds toward a place that will help people, as Anna Mae would have wanted. The family requests that donations be sent to either the Bexley United Methodist Church, or (P.O. Box 633597, Cincinnati, OH 45263), or .
