HALL Anne "Annie" Luken Hall, 58, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Kobacker House after a courageous battle with cancer. Annie was born January 3, 1953 in Cincinnati, Ohio, to former Congressman Thomas A. Luken and Shirley Ast Luken. She attended St. Ursula Convent and Academy in Cincinnati and as an honor student was allowed to skip her senior year and attend Xavier University as an early admission student. She then transferred to The Ohio State University Honors College, but left before graduation and became involved in presidential and gubernatorial campaigns. In the 1980's she lived in Dallas, Texas where she worked for then Warner AMEX Cable and was solely responsible for Dallas City Council's granting exclusive cable rights to Warner. She returned to Columbus where she was a Vice President with Bank One of Ohio for 17 years. She was in charge of governmental affairs and philanthropy for Bank One for many years and eventually became their national lobbyist before the U.S. Congress. She was appointed to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation by President William Jefferson Clinton, however, when Senator D'Amato of New York put a hold on all of President Clinton's nominations due to the Whitewater controversy, she withdrew her name and became Bank One's congressional lobbyist where she was a definite and influential force with respect to banking legislation in the Congress. She was, for example, a prime influence in the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act. She was also a member of the Columbus School Board from 1987-1991, where she fought hard for the children of the Columbus Public School district, especially the underprivileged. She was also one of the prime organizers and facilitators for AmeriFlora 1992. After all that and more, she decided to finish her college education and in 2008 graduated from The Ohio State University magnum cum laude with a degree in journalism. She was a political and editorial writer for the Ohio State Lantern and a statehouse reporter for the Lantern and the Cincinnati Enquirer. During her life, Annie was involved in and contributed to many charities and their philanthropic organizations. Besides her parents, Annie is survived by her loving husband of 21 years, Judge John A. Connor of the Tenth District Court of Appeals; and her step-daughters, Colleen Williams (John) and Erin Winemiller (Ed) and their children, Brendan and Patrick Williams and Eleanor Winemiller; sisters and brothers, Mary Miller, Charles Luken, Tim Luken (Libby), Peggy Sandman (Tom), Beth Luken, Martha Mocahbee (Phillip), and Matt Luken (Karen); brothers and sisters-in-law, Steve Connor (Nancy), Jeff Connor, Pete Connor, Kathleen Reardon (Doug), Leslie Aynes (Dane), Mary Hill (Lloyd), Susie Taggart (Mark), Mike Connor and many nieces and nephews.
