Audrey Marilyn Cameron Obituary
Cameron Audrey Marilyn Cameron, died unexpectedly on March 22, 2017 in her home in Columbus Ohio, age 72, due to complications associated with preparations for a routine colonoscopy. Audrey was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on August 7, 1944. She spent most of her childhood in Weyburn SK, graduating from high school in 1962. She graduated in 1966 with a B.S. degree from the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. She obtained her Ph.D. in organic chemistry from McMaster University in Hamilton Ontario. She immigrated to the USA and worked at Chemical Abstracts Service from 1972 until her death. Audrey is survived by her identical twin, Erma Carolyn Cameron of Fairfax, VA; and by her stepmother, Edna Cameron of Outlook, SK. She is also survived by her long-time friend and soul mate, Harry C. Hershey of Worthington, Ohio. She has many cousins in western Canada and in Finland. Her parents were William Cameron (born in Mercer County, ND) and Saimi Karppinen (born in Finland). Audrey loved the outdoors, reading, gardening and sports. Among her favorite sports were curling, downhill skiing, cross country skiing, hiking, backpacking and tennis. As her health declined, she took up and enjoyed golf. Audrey loved to travel. She skied all over the west and Canada. She visited many countries on many continents. She followed politics and the news, and read many magazines. She was interested in everything. Audrey had many fond memories of her childhood, growing up in Weyburn plus spending lots of time at her Grandparent's farm, located some miles from Macrorie SK. She loved picking wild berries on the plains of SK with her sister Erma. She loved her job at Chemical Abstracts, working full-time for many years past the age where many retire. She worked the last full day of her life. She loved Harry's cat Sam. She loved the mountains. A gathering to remember Audrey will be held on Sunday, April 2 from 2-4 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER FUNERAL HOME, 6699 N. High Street, Worthington.
