Reverend Bernard James McClory

McClory Reverend Bernard James McClory died early on November 21, 2015 following a long illness. The son of Bernard and Ethel (DeVault) McClory, he was born October 31, 1927 in Columbus, Ohio. He graduated from the college and philosophy program at the former Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary (Columbus) in 1949, later completing his theology studies and earning a License in Sacred Theology at the Catholic University of America in 1953 and 1954, respectively. He was ordained on May 30, 1953 by Bishop Michael J. Ready. During his ministry Fr. McClory served on a number of diocesan boards, committees and commissions; he also served in several parishes his last assignment being Pastor of Saint Leo Parish (Columbus), retiring in 1997. Fr. McClory is survived by his brothers, Walter and Harold; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will take place at MAEDER-QUINT-TIBERI Funeral Home, 1068 South High Street, Columbus, on Tuesday, November 24, 4-6 p.m., concluding with praying of the Rosary. Visitation will resume Wednesday, November 25, 9:30 a.m. at Saint Leo Church, 221 Hanford Street, Columbus, continuing until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m.; Fr. Kevin Lutz, Pastor, Saint Mary (German Village), will be the Mass celebrant and homilist; burial will follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help feed the people served by Community Kitchen, Inc., located on the grounds of Holy Rosary-Saint John Catholic Church, 640 South Ohio Avenue, Columbus, 43205.
