Betty Barnes Obituary
Barnes, Betty
1922 - 2018
Betty Lou Hedges Barnes passed away on April 13, 2018 in Delaware, Ohio. She was born on October 17, 1922, in Tarleton, Ohio, to the late Clifford and Maud Rose Kuhn Hedges. She was the sister of the late Helen Hedges Kissling, Charlene Hedges Ratcliff, and Jack Hedges. Betty was happily married to Leroy Stevenson Barnes for 67 years. For many years, Betty was an active member of Maynard Avenue Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and Leroy was the church treasurer. Betty, Leroy, and their children enjoyed traveling together each summer when they were camping, fishing, boating, sightseeing, and exploring the United States and Canada. Betty is survived by her daughter Susan Kay Barnes de (Victor) Resendiz, J.D., of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, and her son Steven Lee (Kimberly) Barnes, CPA, of Delaware, Ohio. Betty was a loving mother and grandmother to her children, grandchildren—Tracy Barnes (Jeff) Travis, Dr. Elizabeth Marie Barnes Collins (Nicola Thompson), and Dr. Meredith Suzanne Barnes Collins (Perry Green Gagliardi)--and her great-grandchildren—Kaylee Travis, Jacob Travis, Edward Lewis Collins Thompson, Ellis Meredith Collins Thompson, and Miles Benjamin Gagliardi. They will sadly miss her. A Celebration of Betty's Life will be held at future time when her family can gather and enjoy stories about her and the wonderful things that she did for them.
