Obituary Condolences

Plunkett Betty Jane (Cooper) Plunkett "Betts", age 84 and Robert Thomas Plunkett, Sr. "Big Bob", age 86, both passed away on the same day May 23, 2017. Betts passed away unexpectedly at home in the early morning, soon after, her husband, Bob, passed away the same day in the evening while in hospice care at the hospital. They were married October 16, 1954. Betts was the only child of late Margaret and Chester Cooper of Campbell, Ohio. She was a graduate of Youngstown Hospital Association School of Nursing and attended Ohio State University. Betts retired from the Ohio Department of Health. Bob was the only child of the late Flora and Thomas Plunkett of Columbus, Ohio. Bob retired from the Columbus Dispatch Printing Company. He also served our country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. They were founding members of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, members of Senior Citizens of Reynoldsburg and Whitehall Ohio, as well as avid volunteers of St. Theresa's hospitality group and other charitable organizations. They spent a fulfilling life together, which included traveling and exploring various parts of the world. These very loving and supportive parents are survived by children, Lt. Col. Robert Plunkett, Jr. (Ret. USAF Reserve), Janice Potts (who provided unmeasurable, selfless support to both in the final year), Diane Plunkett, Kenneth Plunkett, wife Janet, and preceded in death by daughter Lois Ann Plunkett (1968); grandchildren, Lindsey Potts and Kyle Potts, wife Kellie; as well as other countless friends whom absolutely adore them. Their joy and presences will deeply missed by their family. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made in a . Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2017 starting at 9:30 a.m. at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 1573 Elaine Rd., Columbus, Ohio, followed by mass starting at 11 a.m. A graveside service to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery located in Lockbourne, Ohio.
